Identifying your learning type or your child’s learning type can help you to become more interested and more successful in your studies. The sooner that you determine what type of learning style would work best for you, you can find ways to incorporate proven methods into your ways of studying, reading and paying attention in class or lecture. There are many different types of learners out there, with each of them having their own way of learning materials faster and retaining information longer using certain senses and learning tools.
Common learning styles include auditory, visual and kinesthetic (hands-on). Auditory learning is favored by those who learn from hearing. This can include hearing rhythm, instructions, memorization, repetitive sounds and more. Visual learning uses sight as the main tool of learning. Those who are visual learners learn well from reading, watching video and in class lessons. Kinesthetic learning involves the practice of doing to learn. This usually involves trying something repeatedly until it is learned.
Many people use a combination of these learning skills, and by involving all three types of learning styles achieves the best results.

You may have noticed that you can ask your son over and over to do something, but he doesn’t do it as if he was not listening to your instructions. You then decide to change your approach and show your son how to do something and he does it correctly right away. Scenerios like this demonstrate that the son may be a hands-on learner.
The best way to determine what type of learner you are or your child is, is to try a variety of different methods. You first need to see what you remember the most from, and which you enjoy the most. When you are a certain type of learner, learning in that fashion is easier and most interesting, because it is natural to the learner.
It may take time to figure out what learning type you or your child is, but no matter what it is the sooner it is discovered and catered too, the better the results will be in learning.
